A sterling silver and engine turned wine bottle coaster made for Hermès. This super quality and very rare sterling example is the perfect table piece for a fine bottle of red wine. Its very clan and unadorned look allows it to comfortably sit in even the most modern of environments.
The coaster was made by the French manufacturers Ravinet D'Enfert for Hermès. They were large scale silversmiths in France and were contracted by Hermès to make home goods for the luxury atelier during the mid 20th Century. It is rare to find a sterling example however. Most of the pieces made by this silversmith for Hermès were silver plated.
The piece is fully singed on the outer lip of the coaster, along with D'Enfert's makers mark, and the Minerva head poinçon for French silver. The quality and feel is of what has come to be expected of the brand, and the condition is excellent throughout. The center of the coaster has a handsome and simple engine turned pattern running through it along with an empty central cartouche which could be engraved, if so desired. A wonderful opportunity to own a rare sterling piece from one of the world's most luxurious ateliers. Made in France, circa 1960's.
